The original crew behind The Evil Dead, including Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, and
Bruce Campbell, are all on board to return as executive producers alongside show runner Craig DiGregorio. Naturally, Campbell will be back to reprise his leading role as Ash Williams, along side charming new sidekicks – Palo Bolivar (Ray Santiago) and Kelly Maxwell (Dana DeLorenzo) whose affection for and tolerance of Campbell’s “Ash” brings out the best in the character. Also, New Zealand’s own Lucy Lawless is on board to return as Ruby (unfortunately, no Xena costumes in sight).
Lee Majors (The Fall Guy, can you believe!) will play Brock Williams – Ash’s father – in Ash vs Evil Dead, Starz announced. Renewed for a second season back in October, Ash vs Evil Dead will also bring in Ted Raimi as Ash’s childhood best friend, Chet Kaminski.

It’ll be Majors’ first appearance in an Evil Dead title, but not for Raimi. He appeared in all three of the original Evil Dead films (we bow at your feet).
Ash vs Evil Dead’s first season ended in early January, and is set to return for its second season in 2016. The show was a great, juicy hit, and one season just wasn’t enough to “satisfy fans and culturedemandsgeeks two decade-long appetite for more Ash” and a fourth outing for our reluctant hero Ash Williams finally hit our (Er, living room TV screens and not pop-corn munching big screens at the cinema).
Though “uneven at times,”AvED” still delivered on gross-out thrills and genuine laughs, and on the television Ash doesn’t just feel like a consistent character, but an actual person (yeah, one we all could find propped up at a bar down our local boozer), and one who had lived through the 24 years off-screen, while we haven’t been looking.
I loved the practical effects of the new series, and Ash is established in a perfect pilot, then sent back to a very familiar location for an outstanding, roller-coaster packed three-part finale. But I felt that the episodes between the pilot and finale were a tad disappointing, more so, than finding ‘Deadites’ running amok through your local town. Also, the 25-minute runtime (come on Starz – the fans demand more time with Ash!) Thoughts?
So culturedemandsgeeks, here we go. Ash is getting ready to revisit his hometown in the upcoming Ash Vs. Evil Dead Season 2. And it promises to give us a side of the man with the chainsaw hand we’ve never seen before. We already know that Lee Majors is stepping in to play Ashley William‘s dad Brock Williams. But with this introduction comes some unexpected character development for our hero.
As we saw in the first look image released, Ash Vs. Evil Dead will pick right back up where last season left off. Ash is in the Florida Keys partying it up at a never-ending kegger where he gets to show off some of the tricks he’s learned over the years. And we’re sure he’ll get a few new ladies into his bed. But Ash’s old enemies, those Deadites are going to come calling once again. “And it will bring Williams to some unexpected places.” Says executive producer Craig DiGregorio.
“Season 2 focuses on Ash going home and going back to his hometown. In that respect, you’re learning about another side, which you haven’t seen. In this season, I think you’re going to learn more about what his life was like before he went to the cabin. What was his life like? Who were the people that he hung out with in high school? Maybe we’ll see members of his family. . . . So, our plan for Season 2 is finding out more about Ash and his distinct past, before he read the Necronomicon, Book of the Dead. Who was he and what was he really running away from?”
And, yes, Ash Vs. Evil Dead will finally give Ash an origin story (we love origin stories) of sorts without having to resort to an (oh!) actual origin story. But at this point, flashbacks haven’t been ruled out. This means we might actually get to see Ash as a kid, and as a high school punk. Though, none of that has been confirmed at this time. It does sound like a fun way to go in giving fans something different they haven’t seen yet.
So, if you are like me, and our eagerly anticipating the incoming second season. Then let’s party and start campaigning for season three. Thanks Starz for making this real.
Feel free to post, Twitter, shout, blog and re-blog about culturedemandsgeeks, and I hope you have enjoyed the read, folks.
