The plots of the Fast & Furious films have become so outlandish that the idea of Dom and his family setting off for a space adventure (where no one can hear you scream “I live my life a quarter mile at a time!”) has gone from ‘lol’ to ‘maybe’.
“Outer space? Listen, I wouldn’t rule out anything with this franchise,” admitted Fast 8 director F. Gary Gray in an interview, said: “When I read submarine I’m like ‘OK, anything’s possible’. [Laughs] You never know. I haven’t read ‘Dom on Mars’ yet but again, you just never know.”
Writer Chris Morgan also refused to rule out the possibility of Vin and The Rock taking out some bad guys in Zero-G, if the circumstances were right.
“Look, I get all versions of that question. I get, ‘Are you going to space?,’ and, ‘Please, God, tell me you’re not going to space because you’ll lose me if you do.’ … The only way I’d go to space is if I had something so good,” Morgan said reassuringly, before adding, “What if Dom’s long lost brother, Richard B. Riddick showed up? ‘Listen, brother.’ Oh my God, I think Dom and Riddick would be so awesome.”

The scribe went on to say that there are “no plans for it right now, so hopefully people will be good with that, but, never say never. If we came up with the perfect thing and it made sense, it will be awesome.”
The ninth film in the franchise will be out on 19th April 2019 in the US. We’ll let you know if the UK date differs.
