The beasties from the depths rise again to terrorize Mason Parker, along with the rest of the Sweetboro residents. Hope is great, especially for Mason and the folks, thinking that the sliggers are no more, and the residents’ lives can go back to some sort of normal once again.
But a fateful boating trip to Wrecker Island will prove them wrong.
After a boat accident strands Mason, Eaver, and three of their friends on the island, the group explores their surroundings. They discover a wartime secret that led to the creation of the monsters, locate an enormous sligger nest, and then must rely on their strengths and their wits to stay alive while they are hunted on SLIGGER ISLAND.
Mike Yowell loves sea creatures, as much as the great Steve Alten, The Meg (I’m guessing), and his description of the creatures are great. The scare scenes and terror go side-by-side easily as apple pie and ice cream.
This book was just as spectacular as its prequel. It is amazing to read how the characters evolved since the last novel. And we are introduced to some exciting new faces. Although sometimes with sequels, authors tend to try to introduce so many new characters that it confuses the reader, this novel introduces them and this allows the story to flow nicely enough.
It is a nice quick read, with just over 160 pages, and I liked learning the origin of the sliggers. Potential for a movie?
Sure, why not!
If you like the 80s movie, Tremors, and fond of the Scooby-Doo gang, this book will allow you to fall in love with the writer’s exceptional skill and craft. Time sure goes fast when you are being chased by sliggers. Let’s hope we have another top-notch novel in this sensational series from a talented writer.
