The Mandalorian first episode?

It is official, Star Wars is back and thriving on TV, the House of Mouse has done it, and recently launched today, and together with Disney’s new streaming site, Jon Favreau’s highly anticipated Star Wars: The Mandalorian made its debut.

After a fan backlash against the direction of Rian Johnson’s The Last Jedi and poor box office reception for Solo: A Star Wars Story, some had suggested Star Wars was lagging behind the likes of Marvel and Pixar. The Mandalorian has been seen as a chance to return to form for the franchise. So how did it go down with fans?

The first episode of The Mandalorian made its premiere today and fans have been busy discussing the pilot on social media.

Not only have journalists been praising the series’ very first episode, but they’ve also been talking endlessly about the episode’s twists and surprises.

The synopsis for the series describes The Mandalorian as a show that features the story of a lone warrior coming after the stories of popular Mandalorian bounty hunters like Jango and Boba Fett. Set after the fall of the Empire and the emergence of the First Order, The Mandalorian takes Star Wars fans on the adventure of a solitary gunfighter in the outer reaches of Star Wars’ galaxy far, far away.

And journalists have been discussing the first episode on social media, with one writer describing it as “very, very good” and many specifically referencing the ending, which includes a massive cliffhanger.

Created by Iron Man and Jungle Book director Jon Favreau, the series has Dave Filoni, Taika Waititi, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rick Famuyiwa, and Deborah Chow as its episode directors.
