Technically nothing to do with sci-fi, action, adventure, etc, but it does have Hugh Jackman in, surprise box-office hit movie The Greatest Showman is destined for the bright lights of Broadway.

The film has made over 430 million US dollars at the box office, and reports from The Cannes Film Festival indicate a live musical is the next step.

Leading man Hugh Jackman, who plays PT Barnum, told Forbes the move towards a live show is exactly what he was hoping for.

“We were talking about a live version of the show even before [the movie] came out,” he said.

In fact, Jackman revealed there was a chance the musical would hit the stage before the screen, recalling a phone call with a film executive who said “Maybe we go live first.”

Paramount to the film’s success has been its soundtrack, which recently beat superstar Adele for the most weeks at number one in the UK album charts.

It features songs sung by Jackman and his co-stars Zendaya, Zac Efron and Michelle Williams.

“It has been downloaded a billion times. I still can’t get my head around that,” Jackman said.

As yet there’s no word on whether the cast of Hollywood A-listers would take to the stage themselves for the theatrical adaptation – for now, Culturedemandsgeeks can only dram of Wolverine singing and dancing on stage.
