While we’re not sure anything of financial or other importance should be in the hands of slackerjacks Tim Bisley and Mike Watt, we’re happy to see that the men behind them – Simon Pegg and Nick Frost – are starting their own production company called Stolen Picture. And the new outfit will kick things off with a comedy action horror movie called Slaughterhouse Rulez.
It feels somehow right given the pair’s background and the successful movies they’ve worked on in the past. But while they’re usually the ones in front of the camera, for Slaughterhouse they appear to be staying strictly producers (though cameos may be a possibility).
Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are reuniting, only this time they’ll be behind the camera rather than in front of it.
It is great to see that The dynamic duo who starred in Edgar Wright’s “Cornetto Trilogy”; Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, The World’s End as well as Paul – forming their own film and television production company.
The comedy horror’s plot is as follows:
Slaughterhouse Rulez is set in an elite boarding school – Welcome to Slaughterhouse – where boys and girls are groomed for power and greatness and they’re about to meet their match. The story’s hero, Don Wallace, is a wide-eyed new boy from a modest background forced to navigate a baffling new world of arcane rules and rituals, presided by sadistic sixth formers. Matters of status are aggressively enforced and conversation with school goddess Clemsie, are strictly forbidden.
But this ancient and ordered world is about to be shaken to its foundation – literally – when a controversial frack site on prize school woodland causes seismic tremors, a mysterious sinkhole and an unspeakable horror is unleashed. Soon a new pecking order will be established as pupils, teachers and the school matron become locked in a bloody battle for survival.
Our hero for the movie is Don Wallace, a lad from a modest background who must somehow navigate the tricky halls of Slaughterhouse, an elite boarding school where young men and women are groomed for power. With sadistic sixth formers enforcing tough rules and arcane rituals, status is strictly observed.
A Fantastic Fear Of Everthings’s Crispian Mills is directing this one, from a script he wrote with Henry Fitzherbert. Pegg and Frost will serve as executive producers for the film. No word yet on its release
Sony Pictures is backing the film, which will likely shoot this year as part of the new production company’s aim to develop various film and TV projects. How’s that for a fresh slice of fried gold?
