SABRINA THE TEENAGE WITCH MAKING A COMEBACK?

sabrina3

Remember after school, just before tea time… the show with the talking cat. The magical teenage witch?

Yes… We spent an embarrassing about of our teenage years fantasising about waking up one morning with magic powers and a portal to the other realm in our laundry cupboard. This was mainly due to our obsession with the legendary TV show Sabrina The Teenage Witch.

The show ended way back in 2003, and since then we’ve had to deal with just catching a glimpse of the odd re-run on Nickelodeon. Yes – we still watch Nickelodeon. Now it looks as though Sabrina is set to return to our screens with a brand-new series. And it’s all thanks to the success of Riverdale.

But fans of the kooky Sabrina Spellman played by Melissa Joan Hart, her bizarre but lovable aunts Hilda and Zelda, and Salem the talking black cat will be disappointed to hear that this remake is vastly different. It’s gonna be dark AF.

You maybe asking yourself, Riverdale? Connection? And here’s where the Riverdale connection comes in.

Both TV shows are based on original Archie Comics series’, and thanks to Riverdale’s huge success show bosses at The CW are looking to create spin-off shows for other characters in the Archie universe.

The new show is apparently called The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (creepy, right? we’re hoping for a Tales of the Crypt type vibe, here!) and is based on one particular series, which tells the story of Madam Satan – Sabrina’s dad’s ex – who’s returned from hell to reap her revenge on the Spellman family.

A far cry from Sabrina’s teenage dramas at Westbridge High and her on/off romance with the adorable Harvey Kinkle…
