Pierce Brosnan starring as Alfred?

While there hasn’t been that much news about Matt Reeve’s The Batman aside from the news that Twilight trilogy star Robert Pattinson is officially playing the Dark Knight in the upcoming DC Extended Universe movie.

But with that out of the way, we’ve all been waiting to learn which actors will be orbiting him as Gotham City’s most familiar faces. And there’s a new rumor going around saying that the production is looking at Pierce Brosnan as Bruce Wayne’s mentor and ever-reliable butler, Alfred Pennyworth.

The Batman Wants Pierce Brosnan as Butler Alfred Pennyworth?

The rumor began with amateur filmmaker Ryan Unicomb who recently took to Instagram to share a picture of Brosnan with a caption saying that “Pierce has entered the chat party.” Not only that, but Unicomb also added an emoji for old man, and a bat symbol – something that DC fans were quick to pick up on.

Brosnan would seem like an interesting choice for The Batman. Not only is the actor at the right age for Alfred’s role, but we’re sure that the Bond star would be able to do a few action sequences if the film demanded a few stunts from Batman’s butler.

If he does land the gig, he’ll succeed a line of fine actors such as Michael Gough, Michael Caine, and Jeremy Irons, which would put a smile on the face of this James Bond fan.

Hopefully, we learn something concrete before long, because I’m dying to know who else will round out the cast.

Fans of the 66-year-old will know he’s no stranger to a sing-song.After all, he starred in both Mamma Mia musical movies, with his vocals being heavily criticized by reviewers.

Netflix tweeted: “Pierce Brosnan will play Will’s father, who also happens to be the most handsome man in Iceland. Yes, this is real.”

Plot details remain under wraps, but Matt Reeves will be focusing on Batman’s skills as a detective in a noir-influenced movie that will feature several villains from the character’s rogues gallery.

Penguin is likely going to be the main villain, with Riddler, Catwoman and Two-Face also rumored. Robert Pattinson is the only actor who has been officially cast, but Paul Walter Hauser is rumored to be up for Penguin, while John David Washington is rumored to be up for Two-Face.

The Batman is set for release on June 25, 2021.
