Ever since talks about expiring contracts and new Marvel heroes being introduced into the MCU, the possibility of getting new Avengers on the team has become more of an expectation rather than a possibility. After all, Avengers: Age of Ultron saw two more additions—three, if it weren’t for Quicksilver’s sacrifice.
From the looks of it, Avengers: Infinity War will be adding in another member. This was confirmed by Dave Bautista!
Here, the star revealed that there will be a mix of old and new faces—perhaps far more than what was seen in Captain America: Civil War:
“Those are the prominent Avengers that have been in all the films, but they’re really just adding so many characters in this. ‘Cuz they’re also starting to introduce other characters like they did in Captain America [Civil War]. They’ve brought in Spider-Man. But they’re going to start moving into different phases of Marvel. So they’re introducing other characters. Black Panther. They’re gonna go a whole series of Black Panther.”
There are already a lot of speculations at this point, but Captain Marvel is a good contender. Apart from Spider-Man and Black Panther, this is the only other movie that has been in recent headlines. What’s more, bringing in Captain Marvel is a good character to introduce in the same way that they introduced the latter two mentioned—especially if we’re going to be missing Captain America in some way following the Civil War events.
I also vote for Captain Marvel, if only because the MCU is in dire need of female superheroes. I love Black Widow and Scarlet Witch, but we need someone who seems to be in league with the big wigs, strength-wise, so she can take center stage, and I have no doubts that Captain Marvel can do just that.
We all know that “Captain Marvel,” starring Brie Larson, has found its directors. Marvel has tapped “Mississippi Grind” helmers Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck to direct the feature film.
Avengers: Infinity War will be released in theatres in 2018, while its untitled sequel will follow the year after.
