Good old Netflix. If they’re not turning ’80s movies into telly series, they’re transforming iconic ’80s videogames into super violent cartoons.
The Castlevania anime, featuring a grief-crazed Dracula taking revenge against humanity for the death of his wife (not a massive spoiler, this all happens in the first half of the first episode) was a huge hit amongst fans, so it’s probably no surprise that the second season will debut on October 26 and will have eight episodes, which is double the amount that we got from season one.

Granted, eight episodes might seem a bit bare but if it can keep the pace and witty writing from the first season, this shouldn’t be a problem.
Details on the second season were revealed by a number of sources, including series writer Warren Ellis. Most people are familiar with the writer’s comic book work, like Transmetropolitan and Nextwave so it’s no surprise that fans gravitated towards this series.

Though not a complete retelling of the video game’s story, it does take various elements from the long-running series and manages to form an identity that feels both unique and fitting to the games.
Inspired by the classic video game series, Castlevania is a dark medieval fantasy following the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepe himself.
