Mighty Ducks set for a TV comeback!

It’s the film franchise we all wanted to make a comeback…

Very few sports movies invoke the same sense of nostalgia as The Mighty Ducks franchise, because people who grew up in the 1990s want nothing more than to go back and live in that era for the rest of eternity.

A new series based on beloved ’90s franchise The Mighty Ducks is reportedly in early development at ABC Signature Studios.

Original writer Steven Brill and producer Jordan Kerner are said to be heading up the project, which isn’t thought to have any stars attached just yet.

The Mighty Ducks was originally released as a film in 1992, before D2: The Mighty Ducks came out in 1994 and D3 in 1996.

An animated Mighty Ducks TV show also ran from 1996 – 1997.

The dramedy franchise follows a minor ice hockey team and developed a cult following.

News of the reboot comes a few years after the original film’s cast got together for a reunion of its 20th anniversary.

As far as box office success goes, the three Mighty Ducks films only earned about $120 million combined in the U.S., but dollar signs only matter to studio suits, because the rest of us want to shout, “Quack! Quack! Quack!”
