MATRIX… RE-RE-LOADED! WARNER BROS REPORTEDLY IN EARLY TALKS TO REBOOT THE MATRIX…

Reports that Warner Bros is lining up a reboot of groundbreaking sci-fi film The Matrix have been greeted with apprehension by fans.

The studio is in the early stages of developing a relaunch of the hit 1999 original, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The publication said the film’s producer, Joel Silver, approached Warner Bros about a potential new release, although siblings Lana and Lilly Wachowski, who wrote and directed the original and its two sequels, are said not to be currently involved.

Cast our minds back to the moment The Matrix began. Eighteen years ago this month, Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss and Laurence Fishburne made history, slipping on the shades of Neo, Trinity and Morpheus in a film that very few saw coming. With audiences focused on the imminent return of Star Wars, the (then) Wachowski brothers dropped a bombshell clad in black leather, the vibrations of which are still being felt nearly two decades later.

Reports also say The Avengers writer Zak Penn is in line to work on the script for the film.

The 1999 movie included innovative special effects, including the slow-motion bullet, and followed computer programmer Neo (Keanu Reeves) in his mission to overthrow humanity’s oppressors, the Matrix.

It spawned two sequels, The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions, both released in 2003.

Would you, the Fans prefer a sequel or prequel rather than a direct remake?

Is it even possible for a remake of The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions?

Perhaps something in several years or in a decade? The Matrix was exceptionally well done and the sequels had their moments but appeared to have lost focus at times.

Culturedemandsgeeks biggest heartbreak about the Matrix sequels is that they cannot be remade. You cannot fix them, the opportunity is lost. At best, the Wachowskis might allow someone to re-edit the films, tighten them up so they don’t drag as slowly as they do.

Perhaps it’s for the best that the films are flawed, so people will struggle with the ideas in them and maybe someday the sequels will get the recognition they deserve, and the remake or extended version will glow far brighter than the original three!
