It’s becoming impossible to avoid Ed Sheeran. The musical genius, that is, Ed Sheeran is coming to Springfield. Well, his voice is!

The singer-songwriter dominates every commercial radio station, wedding reception and streaming platform known to mankind. Now, he’s making his debut on The Simpsons.

Simpsons fans have gotten their first look at Ed Sheeran’s cameo appearance.? Sheeran teased fans about his trip to Springfield back in July, but Fox has now revealed the episode will air in the United States this Sunday as part of the TV show’s 29th season.

“This year continues to be equally surreal and amazing,” Sheeran said at the time. “Watch out for this one, Lisa and I have a whole thing going on.”

A commercial has given the first look at Sheeran’s cameo. He will play Brendan, a British boy who captures Lisa’s attention thanks to his piano skills.

The cameo was organised by showrunners DB Weiss and David Benioff in order to surprise actress Maisie Williams, who is one of the musicians biggest fans.

The Simpsons, however, is no stranger to celebrity cameos. Past episodes have seen guest appearances from the likes of George Takei, Michael Jackson, Hugh Hefner and even Rupert Murdoch.
