Karen Gillian inline for the Pirates of the Caribbean reboot?

It looks like the Pirates of the Caribbean reboot is moving forward and Disney already has its eyes on the star who will replace Captain Jack Sparrow.

Also known as The Redhead, she is thought to be inspired by the historic Irish pirate, Anne Bonny.

In the first three Pirates of the Caribbean movies, there’s a prostitute called Scarlett who is loosely based on her.

Originally Redd was part of the “Take a Wench for a Bride Auction” part of the ride which was removed in 2017 for “abhorrent sexism, fat-shaming, and light-hearted portrayal of human trafficking”.

So just who could play Redd and lead the franchise going forward?

A new report claims that Jumanji: The Next Level actress Karen Gillan could get cast as Johnny Depp’s replacement in the reboot.

The report comes from We Got This Covered, which cites anonymous sources claiming that the Avengers: Endgame star could get cast in the reboot. If Gillan accepts the role, she could play Redd, a female pirate who has been a fixture on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride.

 It was previously reported that Disney has decided to reboot the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and effectively remove Depp as Jack Sparrow. On the other hand, several fans were unhappy with the news since Depp’s character has been synonymous to the films.

Although we’re disappointed that Captain Jack will no longer appear in the reboot, we’re also looking forward to what the reboot will be about and how it will tie into the original mythology of the previous films.

While Star Wars’ Daisy Ridley has also been suggested by fans. However, our personal choice is redhead Karen Gillan, whose Amy Pond briefly dressed as a pirate in Doctor Who episode The Curse of the Black Spot.

Since leaving the TV show, the 30-year-old actress has shot to  Hollywood fame starring as Nebula in Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers movies.
