After $1.6 billion in box office takings, a sequel to the summer’s mega-smash Jurassic World was always going to be a sure thing. Fans of Rexy, raptor Blue and her crew are in luck because the wheels are-a-turning for Jurassic World: Lost Kingdom.
It seems like only yesterday we were eagerly anticipating the first trailer reveal from Jurassic World. And now, two years on, we have the first trailer for the follow-up Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom! Watch it below! Remarkable. In just under seven months we will return to Isla Nublar for the very last time and witness it’s final destruction.
The New Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Trailer Serves Up Big Dinos and Big Questions. So, sink Your Teeth Into These Details About Jurassic World 2… Dinosaurs! Explosions! Jeff Goldblum quoting himself! What more could you ask for?
Judging by the first trailer for next summer’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, the scientists behind the Jurassic series have decided to address some of the World‘s biggest problems head-on. For one, Howard’s Claire Dearing isn’t wearing high heels. For another, this installment seems more focused on the big questions and ethical implications of what humanity should do after bringing back pre-historic beasts, with Jeff Goldblum’s Dr. Ian Malcolm reemerging to remind everyone that “these creatures were here before us, and if we’re not careful, they’re going to be here after.” He also, naturally, throws in a good ol’ “life finds a way,” proving that there are some discoveries that not even chaos theory can explain.
We spy a Triceratops and possibly a few raptors, but where are the bones of the Indominus Rex? The first genetically-engineered dinosaur species seems to be missing (maybe at the bottom of the purpose built aquarium?)
In terms of the young girl, seemingly revealed that a 9-year-old girl named Lucy will be one of the central characters – no news yet on who the actress is.

It’s been four years since theme park and luxury resort Jurassic World was destroyed by dinosaurs out of containment. Isla Nublar now sits abandoned by humans while the surviving dinosaurs fend for themselves in the jungles. When the island’s dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event.
Owen is driven to find Blue, his lead raptor who’s still missing in the wild, and Claire has grown a respect for these creatures she now makes her mission. Arriving on the unstable island as lava begins raining down, their expedition uncovers a conspiracy that could return our entire planet to a perilous order not seen since prehistoric times.

“[It will not be] just a bunch of dinosaurs chasing people on an island,” says Colin Trevorrow. “That’ll get old real fast.” However, even if it does mean war, it’s definitely not going to be a game of Dinosaur Top Trumps.”
According to Trevorrow. “I don’t think that bigger, better dinosaurs or bigger, more epic-in-scope action sequences are what people are necessarily looking for from this franchise and what they love about it.”
“It will be more suspenseful and scary. It’s just the way it’s designed; it’s the way the story plays out. I knew I wanted Bayona to direct it long before anyone ever heard that was a possibility, so the whole thing was just built around his skill set.”

Trevorrow and his Jurassic World co-writer Derek Connolly will be cooking up the story again. Steven Spielberg will also be serving as a guiding hand behind the scenes as executive producer.

Jurassic World 2 budget: it’s big!
JA Bayona will have an even bigger toy box to play with on the new movie. While Jurassic World was made for $150m, Lost Kingdom will apparently be spending a whopping $260million (Oof. That’s quite the investment!)
We can’t say we’re surprised, though – the first film took $1.67 billion worldwide, making it the fourth most profitable movie of all time. What that extra $110m will afford Bayona, we can only imagine.
Jurassic World 2 cast: The stars come out again
Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will be back reprising their roles as dino trainer Owen Grady and former park chief Claire Dearing (who won’t be running in heels this time).
Having cemented himself as squad alpha by the close of Jurassic World, we’re expecting Owen’s raptors to be involved in some form. Let’s just say there had better be Blue!
Bayona announced on Twitter that Geraldine Chapman would be joining the cast too – she’s appeared in all three of his previous movies, The Orphanage, The Impossible and A Monster Calls.
He said he was definitely up for it, and now it seems that Jeff Goldblum will be reprising his role as Dr Ian Malcom in the sequel. “It’s small… who knows, they may cut me out entirely. But if I stay in I’ll be a sprig of parsley or a little garnish, hopefully with some impact!”
But it looks like Jake Johnson won’t be back as wisecracking park employee Lowery Cruthers. Sad times.
