Hugo Weaving’s Red Skull ready to make a return to the franchise?

Hugo Weaving’s Red Skull hasn’t been heard from since the Tesseract blasted him off to space in Captain America: The First Avenger, but Samuel L. Jackson may have hinted at his return in Avengers: Infinity War.

In an appearance at Hot97, Jackson talks about the reason why he won’t be appearing in Marvel’s Black Panther, and it’s because his character, Nick Fury, is dealing with “The Skull.” He says, “I’m already in the universe… You didn’t see me in Civil War. I’m still out there trying to figure out what, you know, [what] The Skull is going to…”

Jackson also talks about eventually ending his stint with Marvel Studios, and he says that he still has a long way to go before his contract ends. “I have a nine picture deal, I have only done like seven. I still got stuff to do,” said Jackson.

I’m curious as to who or what “The Skull” Jackson is referring to is. It’s possible that he could be recruited by Thanos at some point, but then again, there’s also the chance of him being cloned by HYDRA at some point. Didn’t the Nazis try to clone Hitler?

We’ll just have to find out when Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters May 4, 2018.
