At Culturedemandsgeeks we take a look back at a 80s cult classic…
Cult classic – one of the first films I remember watching, I loved the sequel too, and when Dan Aykroyd confirmed that Ghostbusters 3 would be made (wow!) but with the heavy use of CGI, like the recent Turtles movie, rather than live-action, it was a bit of a disappointment, even with the old gang returning in cameo form!) And it was considered a risk because comedies were relatively cheap movies to make, and this one had a large special effects budget too, but at least the visual effects were worth while and satisfactory for the time.
Ghostbusters has a great central idea and is as funny as it could have been. Sigourney Weaver is sexy as hell in it as the devil dog thing she turns into.
Did you know that the reason it took 5 years for a Ghostbusters sequel is because David Puttnam took over Columbia Pictures and he blocked it? When he got fired, the Ghostbusters sequel got fast-tracked and got made!
The very notion that some people can say it’s okay while others love it with a passion seals it’s cult status. It was a terror and a joy of my childhood! So… check out the photo album below and enjoy, geek fans!
