DUCKTALES IS BACK: all you need to know!

An all-star voice cast including David Tennant, Catherine Tate and Danny Pudi are bringing the classic animation series back.

With a new voice cast, a rebooted series and short TV film all coming soon, a whole new generation are about to discover the magic of McDuck Manor. Does it still have the incredible theme tune? Woo-oo! Of course it does. It wouldn’t be DuckTales without it. It leaves the classic theme song mostly untouched, but shows more of the bold, new animation style that is re-animating the Duckburg set nearly 20 years after they last appeared on TV…

A TV smash hit from 1987 to 1990, there were 100 episodes of the original DuckTales, which blended mystery, action and comedy across a series of spectacular adventures.

Based on the Duck universe comic books created by Carl Barks, the show follows Scrooge McDuck and his mischief-making triplet grandnephews, Huey, Dewey and Louie. The new series also features Scrooge’s temperamental nephew Donald Duck and the fan favourite McDuck Manor chauffer and pilot Launchpad McQuack.

No-nonsense housekeeper Mrs Beakley and her greanddaughter Webby Vanderquack, a new adventurer and fierce friend for the triplets, add a female dynamic to the new series.

The new cast have described the show’s dynamic as ‘Indiana Jones meets Modern Family’.

Doctor Who, Broadchurch and Jessica Jones star David Tennant steps into Scrooge McDuck’s expensive-looking shoes as the star and head of McDuck Manor.

He will be joined in the new adventures by Danny Pudi (Community), Ben Schwartz (Parks and Recreation) and Bobby Moynihan (Saturday Night Live) as Huey, Dewey and Louie respectively.

Speaking about the heritage of the show David Tennant said: “It feels like a responsibility. We’re playing with people’s dreams here.”

It has also been revealed that David Tennant’s old Doctor Who co-star Catherine Tate will join the cast as the iconic DuckTales villain Magica De Spell, McDuck’s oldest, bitterest enemy.

Recurring guest voices include Lin-Manuel Miranda (Broadway’s Hamilton, Disney’s Moana) as Gizmoduck, Allison Janney (The West Wing) as Scrooge’s old flame Goldie O’Gilt and Margo Martindale (The Americans) as villain Ma Beagle.

The new TV series of DuckTales won’t air until early 2018 on Disney Channel, but a TV movie special DuckTales Woo-oo! premieres on November 13th.
