Tim Burton’s remake loses Will Smith but gains the veteran funny actor to the cast of the Disney remake…

Will Smith was said to have been signing on for a role in Dumbo but has since dropped out.

Beloved Danny DeVito is reportedly in talks to star in Tim Burton’s live-action remake of Dumbo. The actor is being lined up to play a circus master whose business is taken over by an evil villain called Vandemere, according to Deadline.

1. Casino Royale actress Eva Green is also in talks to star in the remake of Disney’s classic animation about the beloved baby circus elephant with the big, floppy ears.

2. The Alice In Wonderland director is re-teaming with Eva Green, who appeared in Daniel Craig’s first outing as James Bond, Casino Royale.
   

Eva appeared in Tim’s most recent film project, Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children, as Miss Peregrine, and previously appeared in the directors vampire comedy Dark Shadows.

The Penny Dreadful star is known for her vampish roles so it will be interesting to see who she’ll play in the live action Dumbo remake

She would play the role of Colette, a French trapeze artist who works for Vandemere and is a key role in the film, Deadline reported.

Eva Green

The main female character is Elephant Matriarch, the pompous leader of the elephants.

The role was originally voiced by Verna Felton who also did Dumbo’s mother, Mrs. Jumbo. She only speaks only once in the film to give her elephant baby his name.

Speculation that Eva may well voice the role of Mrs Jumbo, Dumbo’s mother, or the Elephant Matriarch [Disney]

The original Disney film told the story of a baby elephant who is mocked for his large ears but learns to use them to fly.

1. Dumbo joins the long list of Disney animations getting the live-action treatment following Beauty And The Beast, The Jungle Book, Cinderella, Maleficent (a spin on Sleeping Beauty) and Alice In Wonderland and here’s hoping Aladdin.

2. The new version will be written by Ehren Kruger (Tron: Legacy) and that’s about all we know about it so far.
   

A release date for the film has not been confirmed.
